Today, I started back on the South Beach Diet. I've been on this plan before and it has worked well for me. I was ready to get back on the plan since the holidays are over and get back into the grove. But that is the key... I was ready!
There are two main keys to being successful in losing weight: you must be ready in your mind to tackle this project in all facets that are thrown at you (and you must have willpower) and you must know the type of diet that works for your body.

I've always wondered what my dreams were trying to tell me, especially because I have the most unusual ones. For the most part, my dreams are nightmares, people are after me chasing me and trying to kill me. Other times, I am falling off a cliff to my death. As you can imagine, they are not pleasant. You're probably thinking, this woman needs to stop watching T.V. before bed but actually I've had these nightmares since I can remember. I can remember being a little girl, about the age of 6 or 7, waking up in the middle of the night and screaming, afraid to get out of my bed because the dream was so scary that my dad would come get me and I would spend the rest of the night on my parent's bedroom floor next to my mom's side of the bed. That continued until I was about 11 and then I stopped screaming for my dad because I was too heavy for him to carry down his bedroom. So instead I'd cower under the blankets and hope I'd be able to go back to sleep and no boogy man would get me. Which is also why I'm afraid of the dark!

Why is it that toddlers (and infants for that matter) always
seem to know just when we need sleep the most and they pick that night, not any
other night, that night not to sleep. Yesterday, New Years Day, was a day
from someone's worst nightmare. My two year old threw every tantrum she
could pull out of her sleeve and then some. And if that wasn't bad
enough, her nap was throw off schedule because at 10:30 in the morning she
wanted to go to bed and then would not take an afternoon nap. UGH!
Calgon, take me away, in fact, just suck me down the drain!

As with everything, 2008 came roaring in like a freight train. It seems that the older we get, the faster time flies. And the busier we become, the more we lose track of time. All I wanted for Christmas was a way to stop time, like in the movie "Click", a remote to press pause. I could get so much more done that way. Or even just to take a long soak in the tub, with the warm water seeping into my pores and cleansing my body of the long tiring stressful day.
